We, A-bomb survivors, more or less want to conceal the fact that we were atom-bombed. For one thing we are afraid that we will fail in getting married or in finding employment if the fact is known to people.
There is a reason different from that, too. We met with a wretched fate that will never be shared by other people. The human beings are said to be the lords of all creation and they developed beautiful cultures and civilizations. But it is also human beings that invented cruel things like atomic bombs and used them against us, fellow beings. I've stopped believing in the cultures and civilizations altogether.
I went through horrible experiences that I don't think other people will know exactly. Since then I've never had heart-to-heart talk with anyone, not even with my intimate. That makes me feel all alone.
We are the victims. It is the U.S. who dropped A-bombs. However, in addition to our suffering, it feels like we have been burdened also with their guilt.
