<body><a href="../index.html">HOME</a><br><table summary="324"><tr><td class="etesti">324</td><td class="edate">After the last ten days of August, 1945.</td><td class="eage">52 years old at that time</td></tr><tr><td class="ei_midasi" colspan=3>I could only wash the baby.</td></tr></table><div class="large"><p>I was a midwife.  I was called to help delivering.  When I asked where the pregnant was, they answered, "She is in the ruins of Turumicho-town."</p><br><p>I went there without disinfectant, nor scissors, nor thread, nor cotton.  I couldn't get them because the baby would be born in a barrack covered with only rugs or such things to block the wind.</p><br><p>I could only help the pregnant to deliver and wash the baby in hot water boiled in burnt bucket, but couldn't disinfect him (or her).  But in such condition human being might be strong enough not to get sick.</p></div></body>
