I kept lying within a mosquito net in a room. My legs began to rot and were full of maggots. My younger sister never came to me owing to my bad smell although I didn't feel this odor.
Nevertheless, this wound finally healed by means of various folk remedies. First, our family tried the fat of horses. However the area was too big to spread over the wound. Then based on a rumor, we tried the rotted loquat. Leaves of persimmons and dried cuttlefish were brewed for me to drink. I drank brewed "yuzu" and dried cuttlefish too. Among them, the most difficult to drink was peels of bayberry. I spitted it out. I could not drink vinegar too.
Neighboring people helped us to change the gauze to new one. Ma'am peeled it from my wound so roughly that I cried, "Ouch!" Her response was "No hurt!" A lot of red colored pus spouted from the wound.
