<body><a href="../index.html">HOME</a><br><table summary="298"><tr><td class="etesti">298</td><td class="edate">August 16<sup>th</sup>or later, 1945.</td><td class="eage">Maggots crawled inside the bodies.</td></tr><tr><td class="ei_midasi" colspan=3>24 years old at that time</td></tr></table><div class="large"><p>We were placed in a large room like a school hall.  Since it was a hot, we laid on a rug, almost naked.</p><p>People were burned and injured everywhere, so treating them was quite tough.  Even burns did not go away for a while.</p><br><p>At all events, it was filthy.  Hot and filthy.  There were flies circling around the room with heavily injured patients.  Maggots were over the bodies of the ones groaning in pain.  And the pain was caused by the maggots crawling inside their bodies.  I tried to pull out the maggots with a tweezers, since it was all too painful, but they showed up endlessly.</p><br><p>There was this disgusting smell when the medicine ran into the yellow pus.  This filthy situation made things worse: some started to suffer from tetanus.  After all, it was terrible and hard to describe.</p></div></body>
