<body><a href="../index.html">HOME</a><br><table summary="283"><tr><td class="etesti">283</td><td class="edate">On August 15<sup>th</sup>, 1945.</td><td class="eage">All army officers must kill themselves.</td></tr><tr><td class="ei_midasi" colspan=3>29 years old at that time</td></tr></table><table summary="haikei"><tr><td class="bg" background="../../photo/img702.jpg"><div class="large"><p>We received a notification from the headquarters.  It said, "We will assemble all the army officers.  You must come after you change your clothes from underwear to outerwear.  Be sure to bring your own sabers."  It emphatically said, "Never fail to wear your own sabers."</p><br><p>We were young and full of energy at that time.  We discussed it together.  "What do you think of this notice?"  "It means all of us must kill ourselves!  The commander will show up and tell us to do that."  We thought like that because we had never received such a notice.</p><br><p>Another officer said, "I don't think so.  I think he won't tell us to kill ourselves.  He will kill himself in front of us instead."</p></div></td></tr></table></body>
