We laid woods in a form of square, in a similar shape of well of Chinese character (#), and burned bodies on them. A child claimed his mother to be alive, but we had to burn her as she would soon decay. I won't be a demon, but I had to do. We were the member of a corpse handling team.
There wasn't enough time for us to investigate the bodies one by one closely. We turned away families which disturbed our jobs and threw bodies into fire. I once said, "This person is still alive. He is moving. We cannot cremate him!"
Almost all mothers were dead covering and/or holding their children. A baby survived under its mother's body. The baby was so hungry that it sucked hard the breast of its dead mother. The dead mother could not give the baby her breast milk, then the baby, in a temper, groveled around its dead mother or mouthed the breast again and again.
Having removed the baby, we threw the dead mother into fire.
