<body><a href="../index.html">HOME</a><br><table summary="229"><tr><td class="etesti">229</td><td class="edate">August 10<sup>th</sup>, 1945.  In the morning</td><td class="eage">15 years old at that time</td></tr><tr><td class="ei_midasi" colspan=3>A charred body was burning on its feet.</td></tr></table><div class="large"><p>I left a university hospital and was walking along the road leading to the hill in Yamazato-machi (district).  At first I thought it was a standing tree or something burning by the road.  As I came up to it, I recognized it was a human body.  The charred body was headless.  I thought its head was probably blown off first.</p><br><p>I climbed up to the highest hill in Yamazato-machi and looked down in the direction of the Urakami cathedral and my house.  There were no roads, no houses and buildings, no bridges.  I couldn't tell where my house was because there were no landmarks down there.</p><br><p>Then I climbed up to the hill, where the Urakami cathedral stood.  I looked down in the direction of my house.</p><p>The view I looked down from there was like a desert.</p></div></body>
