I looked out from the windows of the primary school, I could see nothing but yellow smoke filled the air. In order to know what happened, I hurried away through the corridor which was completely destroyed.
The two huge concrete gateposts of the school, which were too big to hold in one's arms, were both blown off in the direction to the school building. The gateposts were pulled off from the ground with mud on, as though teeth were pulled off. A Japanese-bead tree and a cherry tree were also toppled down toward the school building.
I went to the health care room and through its window looked at the direction of my house. That area was a sea of flames. As far as I could see, deep red flames were blazing over the whole town of Shiroyama. When I saw it, I could not step ahead nor back. I only could squat down under the stairs.
