I saw people passing by. There were people stark naked, or people with their skin and flesh peeled off dangling down to their waits from the upper bodies. They escaped from the direction of Urakami (district).
I thought then for the first time, "It may be the new bomb about which I read in a newspaper article the other day."
What still remains in my memory is about a young mother. She was not completely naked, wearing some cloth only on her front. She was carrying her baby with no head on the back. And she was lulling as saying to it,
"Don't cry, don't cry."
Then I felt indeed, "War is cruel."
