Many wounded people evacuated and came over. I know now that they came from the direction of the hypocenter. They did not run but were plodding. I had never seen ghosts for real but had seen some in paintings. The figure of a ghost in the drawing usually hang down their arms in front and say, "Urameshiya" (It literally means 'Grudge'), doesn't it? Those people were just like ghosts in the drawing. They were hanging their arms in front with their hands down. Their fingers were burnt and its flesh was hanging from fingertips. They followed one after another came over plodding.
I shouted out at them,
"My classmate has been buried under this collapsed roof. The roof is too heavy for me alone to move. Please don't leave us. Will you give me your hands?!"
Bowing down to them over and over, I begged for help. However nobody stopped for us. Since they were absent-minded, all my effort to ask for help was in vain. They kept moving.
