I narrowly escaped from the factory to outside but I lost my sense of directions, because the factory buildings had been destroyed completely. One student of Kushu University rushed to me and asked,
"Got injured?"
He didn't mean if I got injured, but he meant if HE got hurt and wanted me to take a look.
I checked him and found that he had no wounds. He was wearing the white shirt. I told him so. He was relieved, and turned around to run away. I was astonished to see his back. His back was missing, it was being scooped out.
People with blood all over their bodies, you can't tell if they are men or women, were dismayed and hastily loitering right and left. Looking at them, I felt as if I were chased by people in a dream.
U.S. aircrafts flew over at the low altitude and machine-gunned us. They were combat planes. I could see the American soldiers in the cockpits, and their eyes which were typical Western eyes. Their deep-set eyes with sunglasses on looked like sneering at us. The aircrafts flew way down over us.
I tried to escape into the air-raid shelter, but I was unable to run even five meters. They would shoot me before I reached the shelter, I thought, I just clung to something nearby.
I noticed later that I was clinging to the dead body.
