<body><a href="../index.html">HOME</a><br><table summary="159"><tr><td class="etesti">159</td><td class="edate">August 9<sup>th</sup>, 1945.  About one hour after the explosion</td><td class="eage">16 years old at that time</td></tr><tr><td class="ei_midasi" colspan=3>I had been paralyzed from the waist down.</td></tr></table><div class="largep"><p>I came to myself, and I looked around.  A huge steel framework had fallen and I had been crushed underneath.  I tried to stand up but I couldn't, because my body was bent at my waist just like a shrimp.  My legs were lying next to my head and stomach.  (My upper body was lying parallel to the lower body of mine.) The fallen steel framework fell and was pressing my head and back down so hard.  I tried to struggle but I couldn't move.</p><br><p>I cried,</p><p> "Help!"</p><p>It was very quiet there.  And then a young lady came out of the main building of the factory, (where the head office located) and crawled on all fours into the gap between my body and the steel framework.  Then she lifted it up on her shoulders.  I crawled out of the gap and was saved.  Then I tried to stand up but I couldn't, because I had been paralyzed from the waist down.</p></div></body>
