I was engaged in the disposal of remains of the victims as a soldier at NINOSHIMA which is an island off HIROSHIMA city. As too many bodies were carried from everywhere to NINOSHIMA, we weren't able to cremate all of them even at our crematory. So we stuffed up a cave with about 50 dead bodies and closed the entrance.
We put the bodies carried to the island side by side at the seaside, and then cut their hair and nails as relics. Or we cut away the characteristic parts of their kimono, put them into a bag, then kept a record of their sex and estimated age.
