My friend and I found shelter to a riverbank and stayed there the night of August 6th. Before dawn of August 7th, she said to me,
"My daughters, Yukie and Toshiko, have died! What shall I do, Ms.Miyamae? I feel very pitiful but can't bring them with me nor escape with them, Can I (am I)?"
I replied after much consideration, "We have no vehicle so that we can't bring them with us."
The friend said, "So, shall we dig the sand of this riverbank and bury them here for a while? Afterward, let's come back here and dig them out."
Then we two cried out loud, and dug the sand of the riverbank and buried the two bodies there.
Even the next morning, this friend and I still felt sorry and did not feel in the mood to leave the place. She said as she cried,
"Yukie and Toshiko, forgive me. I too will go there to you right after."
Each of us put hands together for prayer and cried out loud.
In the next morning an American aircraft appeared and machine-gunned fiercely. A volunteer person came to us and said loudly, "Escape!" However, we could not walk anymore.
