Finishing the treatment of one patient, I looked up for the next one who had been waiting for his turn, but I found him fallen on the floor. I tried to take his pulse but there was nothing at all. He was already dead. In fact, injured people died one after another before my very eyes. It was really hell on earth.
The injuries people suffered from were no ordinary ones. One person was injured about the face: a large area of his face was peeled off from burns. A young woman had her nose cut in two. How pitiful! I stitched up her wound nicely. I hoped her wound would heal and she would get well in a while.
It was summer and most people were wearing light clothing like a shirt. Many men were even shirtless. They suffered from bloody burns from heat rays. Lots of people were skinned like fish.
I had astonishing patients as I had never seen before. It was just an awful sight.
