While I was escaping, it began to rain. Big black rain drops poured down. Come to think of it, however, rain can't be of black color by itself. When Hiroshima totally collapsed, huge black clouds of smoke rose up into the sky. The falling rain absorbed the dust filled in the air and was tinted gray. This is what I think now, looking back.
And that sun, how can I describe it? It looked so enormous as to cover half of the sky over Hiroshima. I had never seen such a horrible sun. It looked so huge and so terribly red.
