I was entering the air-raid shelter. As I didn't feel there was much danger, however, I stopped at the entrance and looked toward Hiroshima. To my surprise, I saw a huge, pink cloud growing and rising up into the sky. I had never seen such a cloud before, but later I knew it was called a mushroom cloud. The cloud was accompanied by a ring around it. I could see objects like scraps of paper in it.
Then I wondered if my ears were ringing, but I soon realized that a faint sound was coming through the air. It sounded like the surf of the sea. I felt like that I heard Hiroshima City cry, and something happened under those clouds.
