Before the atomic bomb was dropped, I had been waiting for my friend at the foot of the Aioi Bridge for twenty or thirty minutes.
It was very hot. Some people past by pulling their large carts. Some carriages went past with people riding on them. Oh, have you seen a carriage? You know, a vehicle pulled by a horse?
I had said to my friend, "I'll come to the Aioi Bridge by seven-thirty or eight o'clock, so wait for me there, please." I arrived there around eight o'clock but I didn't find her. After waiting for her for twenty or thirty minutes, I thought she would never come, so I left the place. It was right for me to leave the place. Thanks to God, I escaped death.
It was really hot: the sun was blazing down.
